Did you know that in October 2003, changes in European legislation meant that it is possible to have your vehicle serviced at an independent garage without invalidating your manufacturers warranty? This legislation is referred in the trade as Block Exemption Regulations.

In recent years, new technology has changed the motor industry dramatically. Vehicles are becoming more and more complex and require skilled professionals to carry out even the most simple of repairs. Visiting an Alliance Autocentre means that your vehicle is guaranteed to be repaired by qualified professionals. The Alliance Autocentre also provides excellent training courses for technicians to ensure all new technologies are covered.

Oil is the life blood of an engine. Not only does it act as an essential lubricant for all the moving parts, it also helps cool essential components that reach high temperatures. Missing oil changes can dramatically reduce the life on an engine, decrease performance and increase fuel consumption.

What does a service typically involve?

This will vary depending on the specific service schedule of your vehicle. However, an interim service will involve changing the engine oil and filter, cleaning, checking and adjusting the brakes, and performing extensive checks on the main components of the vehicle.

A full service will cover these essential, but will also involve changing the spark plugs (glow plugs if you have a diesel), air filter and sometimes the fuel filter. Exact requirements will vary, but changing the anti-freeze/coolant will often be carried out during a full service.

Apart from these two main types of servicing there are other vital servicing elements which may not be part of a routine service. These include changing the timing belt, replacing the brake fluid and checking the operation of the driver and passenger airbags.

When you take your vehicle to an Alliance Autocentre, you will always be contacted should the garage find anything which needs attention that is not included in the price of a service, such as a clutch replacement or badly worn brake pads etc...The garage will always detail the problem and outline any costs. It will be up to you to decide whether the work goes ahead - not them!
